Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the most important human rights advocates of the twentieth century. She helped move concern for justice beyond national politics and toward an international moral framework shared across borders. As First Lady of the United States, she did far more than fulfill a ceremonial role. She took active interest in labor conditions, women's rights, youth welfare, poverty, and the protection of minorities.
